Secret Chamber

Secret Chamber (C) 2013 Elviera Schreuder

Sometimes my heart aches really bad.
It feels like a fist clenching my insides.
I breathe with discomfort lodged in my throat.
The flood gates of my eyes want to release the pressure.
And the more I force them to close,
The louder my pain yells!
Pain takes me down several avenues promoting its cause.
As my breathing gets heavier,
Two salty lakes form on my face.
My heart pounds
Like a madman on a door.
Until I buckle and let the gates swing wide open!
Not dazzling at all how it brings down my walls.
I plunge and fall in this secret chamber…
